President Obama asked Congress to use military force against ISIL (the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant) for three years. ISIL is located in the Levant which is in the Middle East. ISIL poses a threat to the Middle East and to America.
He wants to go to war against ISIL, not only because they pose a threat, but because they killed four Americans. The four Americans are listed below with a picture of them.
President Obama (and the next President) will report to Congress every six months for the duration of the war to discuss specific actions taken by the army.
